Well Lord, I have forsaken this little blog once again, this time for almost a month. My apologies, readers. Good news is, I am BACK! AND I should be posting on this site almost every day now, through an as-yet non-existant new page (should be active by tomorrow): FranLaff.com/10-05 – a place for my 50th birthday project and related info and pics and such.
That being said, I will TRY to catch the reader up to what’s happened in the past four weeks. After finishing packing up our little corner in the Texas woods, my Mate and I stayed a couple weeks at his mother’s house near Waco, Texas. It was an awesome time of fellowship and fun, complete with getting new tires for my van and the camper — AFTER we drove the last 20 miles with one of the camper tires GONE, and by the time we got there the metal rim was an octagon, lol. Fun, fun. :D Then we headed north but in Dallas the brakes on my van went out — the metal line had rusted and was leaking out fluid as fast as we could pour it in. Fun, fun. But I survived, and we got a new brake line installed at a shop. God provided a NICE little shady spot where the van could park while waiting for repairs, with the camper directly in front of it, and a nice shady tree for us, between the two. :) It was peaceful.
We had three more shady little overnight nature corners on the way up to Michigan, but once we got there my Mate was soooooo sick of driving, it kept on raining, and he went east when he meant to go north. So, we just continued on past Lansing, to the Detroit side of the state without spending even a day in my beloved West Michigan. BUT, it really does seem that my biggest lesson lately has been learning to trust in God’s perfect timing. So. :)
We made it safely to the farm where I was born and was warmly welcomed by my brother and sister-in-law, as well as a group of coyotes who seemed to be welcoming me home that evening, serenading me from just across the creek — VERY close by, even closer than any coyotes in Texas had been. It was beautiful. <3
Almost immediately, my sister-in-law asked if I wanted a job and now it looks like I will be starting training this week or next week at the latest. Not to be deterred from my other projects and goals, I went back to working on my own things just yesterday, and in the wee hours of this morning, I got my next “steppingstone” regarding HOW to proceed with my 50th birthday project. Which cycles back up to the link above.
