Shanti Stupa

This bright white domed building sits high in the Himalayan mountain region in northern India

The Shanti Stupa was built in 1991 as part of the Peace Pagoda mission — it is built as a monument for peace. The site is important for buddhist religious reasons (as a shrine holding relics) as well as for its panoramic views.
