Long ago I created my first namesake website, FranLafferty.com – which is no longer in existence. I started over using the current, shortened form of FranLaff.com (this website) in 2019, seven years after creating that first one (and dozens of OTHER websites, lol). Times had changed, and more security was needed for each website. I could not afford to pay $80 USD or so every year for each website to maintain the security protocols, so I consolidated my 30+ websites into one: FranLaff.com — now the ONLY site I run.
Back on the old site, I was developing a whole host of art prompts, including some writing prompts. This “Describe Your Senses” page was part of that group. It is a very simple one to begin with here, adding it to this site, slowly rebuilding what I lost.
Clicking the pic below will open a FREE file on Google Drive. There is no advertising or other distractions other than my URL at the bottom. The sheet features 40 different boxes, each with a location and three of the five senses that you should be able to experience in that place.
Use one box per day as a writing warm-up, or fill a section of your journal with these sensory experiences. One day you might describe what you smell, hear, and feel on a farm (real or imagined), the next day record dialogs you HEAR in your office… and on other days imagine what you would see and hear at an aquarium, or what you might TASTE at a candy store. Let your senses lead you on some mini writing adventures!
