“I am looking out the window at the lake. The sun glints off the water in an inviting manner. Something comes into view and I struggle to make sense of it. Suddenly I recognize that it’s a bear, a swimming bear. The sun shines off the and onto the bear making it appear to be white. I take it for a polar bear, which surprises me even more, then I understand it’s fur is brown. The bear is chasing a small rubber ball through the water. I call out to my friends, “Guys, guys! There’s a bear swimming in the water!”
“As I shout this out, I see there are two bears. No, four bears! No, there are more! With ever increasing surprise I count a dozen brown bears all swimming around in the lake outside the house, playing ball together. A number of my friends decide to join then and they take off running and jumping into the lake. Suddenly I find I am in the lake myself and I decide that it’s really pretty dangerous, no telling what kind of bears these really are. They seem friendly enough, but one never knows. I swim to shore, anxious to make it before a bear spots me.”
