This site was originally designed to commemorate a meeting place between Buddha and his early disciples
Chaukhandi Stupa is located just over 100 miles south of Nepal, in northern India. A step-sided temple was originally built at the location in approximately 500 CE, and the octagonal tower was later added to commemorate the visit of a powerful ruler of the Mughal empire in the 1500s.
