Sometimes I think I have several different bits of associative synesthesia, enriching my inner experience of the world around me. Or at least this is one possible explanation for why I keep seeing the beauty of TEXTURE in sights, sounds, and color patterns. It may even partially explain why I ADORE plant morphology — the way plants LOOK, their amazing variey, and the visual and sensual FEEL of their stems, leaves, buds, and fruits.
TEASELS are one of my favorite plants of all time — morphologically. Their dry seedheads (I’ll include the pic of those from yesterday’s post) are amazing enough, and that is what sticks out to us while whizzing by in our cars, wondering what those brown spikey things are, sticking up in patches along the road, lol.
But it wasn’t until last year that I got to see teasels in their GREEN form. Wow! :O
To me these plants are STUNNING! I cannot give them credit with a flat photo, but I have tried to supply a couple for reference, for now. See if you can pick them out in the photos below — the amazing spikey TEXTURE of their leaves, their BOLD warrior’s posture with perfectly saluting opposite leaves… up to their graceful whisker-like whitish bracts below the developing flowerheads. Not bad for a “weed”!
Let it be said now, at the start of this Jo’s Journey, that “Plants are my PEOPLE” Heeheehee.
Other TEXTURES in nature today:
Orange berries I’m too lazy to identify at present, coltsfoot leaves looking up from gravel, past-their-prime anemones, just-getting-started day lilies and catalpa flowers, and golden-brown sedge spikelets… plus dainty dangly meadow rue flowers (and their cute little leaves below) contrasted against all the greens and browns of the forest behind… Oh, and another shot of the mini waterfall in front of the clump of trees I have just today nicknamed “Willow Run”. Does anyone else get this attatched to individual plants and plant species, like I do? Heeheehee.
I also took a fun shot of my Mate today, but I kept it separate from the plants, cuz he is my FAVORITE of all God’s creations, lol.
